    http://www.duotrope.com/index.aspx

This seems like a useful site.

"Welcome to Duotrope, an award-winning, free writers' resource listing over 3550 current Fiction and Poetry publications. Use this page to search for markets that may make a fine home for the piece you just polished. Use the menus at the top and right to explore the rest of the free services we offer writers and editors, including a free online submissions tracker for registered users. We usually make several updates per day, and we check each of the current listings regularly (at least once a month) to ensure the most up-to-date database humanly possible. So far this week, we have checked guidelines for 934 listings, and we have made 550 listing updates. The last update was made 9 hour(s) and 51 minute(s) ago."

It's a list of contests, magazines, sites, anthologies etc. where you can submit your stories. They have a search engine where you can specify the word count, genre, payment and similar.

I wanted to explain that I am constantly overestimating and underestimating the human race - that rarely do I even simply estimate it. I wanted to ask her how the same thing could be so ugly and so glorious, and its words and stories so damning and brilliant. None of those things, however, came out of my mouth. All I was able to do was turn to Liesel Meminger and tell her the only truth I truly know. I said it to the book thief and I say it now to you. I AM HAUNTED BY HUMANS.”
